Solstice in Canarias

The guanches had their special places and caves as temples

There they did their rites to guess the uncoming events burning several food and looking at the smoke. At the same time calling the maxos (their dead people), calling the spirits of the sea to get messages which helped them when someone was sick or for the crops. These rites were done at summer Solstice and San Juan fires in June in Canarias.

Today 21 June I woke up very early to drive to the beach where I could reach the sun in the morning next to the sea. I felt that on the beach was the best place to celebrate the summer solstice. I observed the clouds coming to the coast which represent the spirits of our ancestors. I just relaxed myself, enjoying the morning clean air, the sun rise on my face, the touch of the black sand on my feet. I did not ask anything.

Everything is given us spontaneously
